Like any veterinarian, I want to fully hope they have my fur baby and their health as their best interest. I will say, we felt that here. We were able to book an appointment for our fur baby within two days, as our cat was having an issue that seemingly popped up overnight. The staff was friendly and was able to break down a lot of the information regarding medicine, costs, etc. We did feel they weren’t too…

When the time came to say goodbye to my sweet senior girl, Cora, Dr Plaska was incredibly gentle, compassionate and kind. She reassured me that this was the most loving choice for Cora and helped me find peace in such a difficult moment. The entire staff was patient and understanding as I took the time to say my goodbyes. Their care and compassion made an incredibly sad day a little more bearable, allowing Cora to…

Sugar appeared to have an abscessed tooth. Doc administered pain and antibiotic shots & prescribed Rx. Sugar ride…
FAQ
Frequently asked questions
How to find an independent vet in Fort Worth?
Look for a locally owned clinic like Mellina Animal Hospital. We've been independent for over 40 years, offering personalized care without corporate overhead.
How much should a vet cost in Fort Worth?
Costs vary by service. We offer affordable pricing and a free first wellness exam for new clients. Ask for a quote during your visit.
What is the big 4 in veterinary medicine?
The 'big 4' are heartworm, flea/tick control, vaccinations, and dental care. We provide all of these and more.
What's the difference between a veterinarian and an animal hospital?
A veterinarian typically offers routine care in a clinic. An animal hospital provides more advanced services, including surgery and emergency care. We offer both.
Is a vet cheaper than an animal hospital?
Not necessarily. Costs depend on services. We're a full-service clinic with competitive pricing — often lower than emergency hospitals.
What is the hardest animal to treat?
Exotic pets like reptiles or birds can be challenging due to specialized needs. We focus on dogs and cats, where we have deep expertise.
What's the most neglected pet?
Cats are often overlooked for regular vet care. We encourage annual checkups for all pets to catch issues early.
What is the #1 friendliest animal?
Many say dogs are the friendliest. Our team loves meeting new furry friends and their owners at our Fort Worth clinic.
